The day I figured out that rhyming within lines was as important as rhyming the ends of lines was a big one for my flow. Just wanted to share that in case anyone else felt like rapping.

I’ve been on a roll lately with music – well, I’ve made two pretty reasonable beats in 48 hours, so I’m feeling pretty good. I love switching back to hip-hop after making some guitar-music. I just completed a 70’s rock-sampling 3 minute anthem which means I now feel like kanye. Also, I have decided on Sigur Ros – Gobbledigook as the official Summer Jam for me this year. Video above – (I nearly put the official one, before realising there was some nudity involved)
EDIT: Ok so there’s LOTS of nudity involved. And outdoors. Splinters!!!
first three tracks available here (Introduction, Morning Prayer, Setting Out)
Woe to him who says to a wooden thing, Awake; to a silent stone, Arise! Can this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in it. But the Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before him.
Habbakuk 2:19-20
I’m not too flash at reading prophecy- but I couldn’t help noticing the contrast being drawn here. The false god is silent. The whole world is silent before the true God.
Rage is doing a special on film clips with famous people in them (besides the musicians). The above clip, featuring Winona Ryder standing in for Jon Spencer, with John C Reilly on the drums, is my favourite so far. Tracklist. (only valid for the next week I think)
Bonus: my favourite Jon Spencer track.
I’m halfway through “The Big Sleep”. I understand it is the original hard-bitten detective story, lots of “that dame is trouble” and sharp one-liners. I’d definitely recommend it so far. I’m enjoying reading the dialogue imagining a “40’s guy” accent
My friend Megan (more in the facebook sense than in the ask-to-help-you-move sense) has a travel blog which is excellent. It doesn’t read like an itinerary, which is a start. It then goes on to be evocative and fun.
